Rail and wheel health management is investigated with focus on deterioration phenomena in the wheel/rail contact interface – plastic deformation, wear, rolling fatigue (RCF). How operational conditions affect deterioration, how they can be included predictions linked to a more in-depth description of mechanisms. Here means measuring, quantifying, predicting focus. This discussion provides basis for outline rail framework. As discussed paper, proposed framework well line requirements ISO 55000 standard asset management.
